4 Reasons Why Slip and Fall Accident Recovery Should Begin with a Doctor

Tempe Slip and FallWhen you’re involved in a slip and fall accident, the first thing you think is, “I hope nobody saw me do that!” Our society has shaped us to think that we should be embarrassed when we fall down, and to laugh at others who do fall down. But a fall incident can be quite serious, whether it occurs at the local supermarket or another business establishment.

If you experience a bad trip and fall accident and want to protect yourself physically and financially, you’ll have to visit a doctor right away, even if you’re not sure that you’re hurt very badly. And here’s why.

  1. Not all injuries are readily apparent. As a society, we have a habit of believing that our injuries are only real if we can see them. But internal injuries, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and injuries to the muscles and tendons may not be readily apparent. Only a doctor knows for sure.
  2. Some “invisible” injuries can cause death. If you fall and hit your head, you may think you only have a goose-egg on your head, but a serious enough whap on the ole thinker could cause you to fall into a coma, or die, hours or even days after you hit your head.
  3. If you wait to see a doctor until you are sure you are injured, you may not be able to prove that your injuries are related to your fall. This could weaken your injury claim considerably.
  4. If you don’t know how serious your injuries are, you’re more likely to accept a low offer to settle. Once your settlement is finalized, you will have no way of going back and getting the fair compensation you deserve.

In short, get medical attention as soon as you can after a bad slip and fall accident. It could make the difference between life and death.
